With one week in the books, we take a look at what is in store for Week 2 of the Rugby Super League.

Starting in the West Conference, the two Chicago teams will face off with local bragging rights at stake. The Lions have been very strong in recent seasons and have the benefit of having the bye-week; but with the Griffins coming off an impressive first week game, an exciting game is surely in store. The Griffins will make the cross-town trek for the Lions opening game.

The Denver Barbarians will make the trip out west to take on OMBAC in their second week of action. Denver opened their account with a loss to San Francisco Golden Gate. In an eagerly anticipated matchup, SFGG walked away with the solid win.

OMBAC will relish the thought of a home game as their trip to Old Puget Sound didn’t go as planned last week. Both teams will want to get into the win column this week.

Old Puget Sound will make the long trip to Dallas this weekend to take on the Harlequins. Dallas will be eager to make up for their slow start in Chicago, and it will be interesting to see if Old Puget Sound will continue their high scoring start. Dallas is stronger at home than on the road, so it seems to be another intriguing matchup.

Over in the East, Life University and PAC start their 2010 RSL season (Life having the bye week and PAC being rained out in the first week of competition). Life has been highly impressive in their season preparations and PAC will know they have their work cut out for them when they make the trip to Georgia.

NYAC makes the short trip up to New England to take on Boston Rugby Club. NYAC will be eager to avenge their preseason loss to Boston, and both teams will be looking to start the season with a 2-0 record which would put them in a strong early position in the conference.

The final game in the East has the Boston Irish Wolfhounds on the road again, this time away to Charlotte. BIW will be eager to show that their blanking by NYAC last week was not reflective of how the game went. They have little room for error as a second loss would put them in a major bind, especially when facing the surging Boston club the following week. Charlotte has had a quiet preseason, so their first game will be a good indicator of how they are shaping up for 2010.

A Look at the Match-Ups for Week 2 - March 20

West Conference

Denver Barbarians @ Old Mission Beach Athletic Club
Little Q - Saturday, March 20 - 3 p.m. (PDT)

OMBAC suffered through a difficult 50-21 defeat to Old Puget Sound Beach last week, and will no doubt be looking to redeem themselves in week 2 against the Denver Barbarians, another side that is still trying to get all of their pieces aligned.  OMBAC will have to use this weekend's home field advantage to their favor in order to feel at ease during their bye week.

Old Puget Sound Beach @ Dallas
Harlequins Glencoe Park Saturday, March 20 - 1 p.m. (CDT)

Old Puget Sound definitely took OMBAC by surprise with their offensive prowess in their first game and Dallas Harlequins have their work cut out for them if they are going to make a name for themselves in the West Conference.

Chicago Griffins @ Chicago Lions
Hope Academy Field -  Saturday, March 20 - 1 p.m. (CDT)

This weekend has all the makings for a great display of rugby in Chicago when the Lions team looks to open their season by taking on their cross-town rival, the Chicago Griffins. The Griffins are coming off a 35-13 win over Dallas, which should help boost their confidence when competing against a consistently tough Lions side.

EAST Conference

Boston Irish Wolfhounds @ Charlotte
Charlotte Rugby Club - Saturday, March 20 (Time is TBD)

With their first match postponed, Charlotte's young squad is still looking to prove themselves following a number of players retiring after last season and this home match against the Boston Irish Wolfhounds (0-1)may just be the way to do it.

Potomac Athletic Club @ Life University
Life Rugby Pitches - Saturday, March 20, 2 p.m. (EDT)

PAC also missed their first week match due to inclement weather, and will face their initial test when they compete against Life University on Saturday. Life also kicks off their season this week, but at home, the Georgia team will be tough to beat.

New York Athletic Club @ Boston Rugby Club
Madison Park High School - Saturday, March 20, 2 p.m. (EDT)

Both teams come into their second matches of the season with a shutout victory under each of their belts. This NY/Boston match-up may prove to be the match of the week in the East Conference, if not the league. Both teams are playing for the top spot and will battle to the finish.
