California beat Arizona, 82-0, Friday night at Kino Stadium, as 10 Golden Bears scored a total of 12 tries. Wing Josh Tucker and flyhalf Alex Aronson scored two tries apiece, and Aronson converted 11-of-12 kicks for 32 points scored.
Wildcats flyhalf Trent Fisher missed a 20-meter penalty attempt in the 38th minute and inside center Jack Arnold attempted an unsuccessful drop-kick toward goal for Arizona early in the second half as Cal (8-0) recorded its fourth shutout of the season.
The Bears earned Friday's victory with four lineup changes following their last match against Stanford, including a start for Eakalfi Okusi with the Varsity XV at inside center. The freshman opened the scoring with his second-minute try.
After eight contests in 2012, the Bears have yielded a total of one try and three penalty kicks to the opposition.
Cal could see the Wildcats again this year in Rugby Sevens, as both teams have accepted bids to play in the Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s tournament on NBC June 2-3.
In the reserve-grade match preceding the Varsity XV, Cal defeated Arizona, 88-0.
Next up for the Bears is a Sunday, Feb. 5, match against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 1 p.m. MT.
