USA Rugby held the first-ever Rugby Sports Medicine Symposium on Feb. 12, in conjunction with the USA Sevens in Las Vegas, Nev.

With over 50 healthcare professionals in attendance, the day-long conference served as both an educational and a networking opportunity. 

This landmark event featured presenters that ranged from world-renowned surgeons to representatives from the IRB.  The last section of the day was a round table presentation that included coaches and players representing all facets of rugby in the U.S.  Panelists included Al Caravelli, Eddie O’Sullivan, Dave Hodges, Matt Sherman, Rob Holder, Jack Clark, Jen Sinkler, and Bruce McLane.

“I am very pleased with the quality of this year’s symposium and I am already looking forward to next year,” USA Rugby Medical Coordinator Michael Keating said. “The plan is to establish this meeting as the premier rugby sports medicine meeting in the world.” 

The meeting had several sponsors including Depuy-Mitek, Stryker Spine, Arthrex, Gatorade and World Rugby Shop.
