Lock Antonio Pavanello will miss Italy's Six Nations opener against France after been banned for two weeks following a disciplinary hearing.
The Treviso forward was cited for an alleged stamp on Saracens number eight Jackson Wray during his club's Heineken Cup defeat to the Aviva Premiership champions last weekend, and pleaded guilty to the charge.
ERC independent judicial officer Pat Barriscale considered the incident to be at the low-end entry point and Pavanello will be available to play again on Monday, February 6, two days after new coach Jacques Burnel takes his side to the Stade de France to face Les Blues.
An ERC statement read: "The Judicial Officer decided that the offence was at the low-end entry point of two (2) weeks, and he imposed a suspension of two (2) weeks.
"Pavanello will be free to play on Monday, 6 February. Both the player and ERC have the right to appeal the decision."
